English Language Proficiency Requirements for Students who are non native speakers of English and undertaking an nmbSA approved education course leading to registration as a nurse or midwife or enrolment as a nurse.
Students who are a non native speaker of English, applying to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of South Australia (nmbSA) for registration or enrolment as a nurse, or registration as a midwife, must demonstrate English language proficiency.
The existing English language proficiency requirements for students who are non native speakers of English are outlined below and will continue until 31st December 2009. Transition provisions for specified students scheduled to complete their course by 31 December 2009 are also outlined below.
Applicants are required to obtain either an: Academic IELTS score of at least 6.5 in Reading and Listening and a score of at least 7 in Writing and Speaking with an overall band score of 7 or greater. or Occupational English Test (OET) for Nurses,OET score of a B pass or higher in all four sections of the test Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing.
The test must be:
undertaken within the previous two years of applying to nmbSA for registration or enrolment， undertaken at a location onshore. nmbSA requires that the applicant’s English language proficiency test results are sent from the test centre directly to: Nursing and Midwifery Board of South Australia

Waiver to produce English Language Proficiency Test
The student is required to provide the following documentary evidence when making their application to nmbSA for a waiver.
Waiver 1 英语免考条件1
Applies to students commencing nursing and midwifery education programs from 1st January 2009.
对于2009年1月1日入学，并且在2010年1月1日前申请注册的人，需要满足：
Successful completion of a nmbSA recognised nursing or midwifery program at degree level; with a minimum of four full-time semesters over 2 years continuous study in that program on campus; at an on-shore Australian tertiary institution; within two years of the date of the applicationb; and a copy of the English Language test prior to commencement of program that demonstrates an overall IELTS test score of 6.0 with a minimum of 6 in each of the four sub-bands.
申请学校的时候递交了学术IELTS成绩，满足每个单项6分，总分6分，读满至少连续4个学期（2年Fulltime）并且合格毕业。
这个时间有点自相矛盾，如果是2009年1月1日入学的话，到2009年12月31日怎么可能满足读满4个Fulltime学期呢？
Applies to students who commenced their nursing and midwifery education programs prior to 31st December 2008.
对于2008年12月31日以前入学，并且在2010年1月1日前申请注册的人，需要满足：
An applicant from overseas, who has successfully completed a course of not less than four semesters (two years full-time study), within the last two years, through an Australian University, on-shore in Australia, and who has provided the appropriate award as evidence, may not be required to undertake an English Language Proficiency Test.
Waiver 2 或者满足免考条件2
Completion of a nmbSA approved enrolled nurse program and completion of a minimum of three years secondary education in one of the following English speaking countries; Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States of America or Canada. If this education was completed in Canada, there must be evidence that the school was English speaking.
Please note that effective from 1 January 2010 the above two English language proficiency waivers will no longer be available to new and continuing students.
