Take somebody the wrong way  误解/错会某人

Hi yping, I hope you don't take me the wrong way.
I take the position of finance moderator just because I wish to support you better.
I promise I'll always be with you and wish you stay.

我这样运用你提供的那个词,合适吗?

The following dialogue has been lingering on (徘徊) my mind ever since I started following Newozer's posts. It has been, therefore, inspired by @newozer and specially made to dedicate to him (谨以此献给他).

John: I couldn't help but announcing what a lucky guy I am to marry my LD. She is so wise that she always knows how to get me well under control in the marriage. She is not only a wonderful house-keeper, but also a fantastic cook who always brings the delicious foods to the table.

Friends: Wow, how blessed you are! But it sounds like your LD has covered every task in the house. What is your contribution in the family then?

John: Me? Oh, believe me! I work unbelievably harder than my LD in the house!

Friend: Oh, How so?

John: Well, I have to work around the clock coming up with something complimentary about her, and then keep her informed that her efforts have been recognized and appreciated. Usually, I don’t mind paying her all the compliments, but I have to think hard to bring them up in the natural and different styles. So that I can make them sound like just coming about by chance other than on purpose, and also sound interesting and creative rather than dull and boring. The hardest thing is when LD takes break from those tasks, I still have to compliment her. So, she can be well convinced that my sweet talks haven’t been only initiated either when I am hungry or when I need to ask a favor of her.

Friend: Oh, it sure sounds like a hard work. In that case, why don’t you just save yourself from all the hard mental work and share some house chore then?

John: Noooooo, the house chore is not what I major In! My specialty is doing the sweet talks and I am particularly cut out for it (有做这个的天赋)!

Dear @MICHELLE07

@ubuntuhk said this post couldn't be retrieved any more due to how it was changed. I would have no choice but let it go.

In my wild guess (胡乱猜测), maybe it had been hacked by @dcxg , who has been always on a campaign to stop me posting the Indian English.

So, I always get a hint that he has something to do with this hacking!

I'll make an enquiry into this matter, @dcxg

One of my patients got a visitor sitting in her bedside, I walked in introducing myself and asked him who he was.

He said: My name is John, Mary's son-in-law---Actually the best son-in-law!

Mary: Hmmm, I'm not so sure about that. I only got one child and have no other son-in-law to compare him with. Haaahaaa

After all the laughters, I said to John if I could check Mary's blood pressure.

John: Oh, why bother? I can tell you straight away her blood pressure will go right up!

Me: How so?

John: Because I am around and I am her headache!

hapless   \HAP-lus\   adjective
: having no luck : unfortunate

Examples:
The hapless cashier could not seem to get anything to work correctly that day.

"Texas batted around in the ninth against Los Angeles' hapless bullpen—with help from two more stolen bases." — From an Associated Press article by Greg Beacham, August 7, 2013

Did you know?
"Hapless" literally means what you'd expect it to mean: "without hap"—"hap" being another word for "fortune" or "luck." "Hap" derives from the Old Norse word for "good luck." ("Happen" and "happy" are also descendants of the same ancient root word.) English has several words to describe those lacking good fortune, including "ill-starred," "ill-fated," "unlucky," and "luckless," a word formed in parallel to "hapless" by adding the suffix "-less." "Ill-starred" suggests bringing calamity or the threat of a terrible fate ("the ill-starred year the Great Depression began"). "Ill-fated" refers only to being doomed ("the ill-fated voyage of the Titanic"). "Luckless" and "unlucky" usually apply to a person or thing notably or chronically unfortunate ("the luckless investor lost all her money" and "an unlucky man who failed at everything he tried").

I couldn't find YOU ARE A JEM either, but when I googled this expression, YOU ARE A GEM popped out and is given the same meaning your colleague was trying to put.

I wonder if that could be it!

BTW, @dorolam I bet you must enjoy a great reputation in your workplace and well respected for what you have done!
