What is passion? My definition of passion is your long time commitment to do some something with enthusiastic regardless the return in terms of money. I see many people's passion in my zoo guide course. To be honest, I didn't have a lot of passion for animals at the beginning of the course. But now I am so touched by their passion. The passion to look after the animals, broadcast the message to protect animals and treat animals more humanely. I heard many times, when some animals die, some zoo guide volunteers cried. I got a chance to talk to the program coordinator at the lunch break during last week's training. He has library knowledge about animals He is pretty much like a animal encyclopedia. He told me he went to zoo with his grandmother since he was 5. His passion motivates him to be more hungry about animal knowledge. He learned the animals via reading books and talking to zoo keepers. He was able to talk about all the animals in the zoo when he was still in primary school. Now he is in his 50s. He is still working a volunteer in the zoo.

Coming back to English learning, since it is a life long learning process, we need to develop some passion for it to some degree. Otherwise you will lost you interest very soon. To do that, I always encourage people to become an active learner rather than a passive learner. I study other people's methodologies but in the mean time I prefer to develop a system that is more suitable for me. I use it, modify it and improve it. At the end of the day, you will see passion really makes the difference.
