WARNING FOR NSW SKILLED REGIONAL SPONSORED MIGRANTS FROM CHINA
The New South Wales (NSW) Department of State and Regional Development has become aware of a migration seminar held in Shanghai on Friday 16 January 2009. There appears to be incorrect information on NSW sponsored Skilled Regional Sponsored migration on a Chinese language web site related to this event. This seminar and this web site purport to involve the Illawarra Regional Development Board, a Regional Certifying Body in NSW.
The NSW Department of State and Regional Development did not organise or endorse this event. The Department has not received and does not seek any money from this event.
The Department warns its clients to be careful when dealing with people purporting to represent the New South Wales Department of State and Regional Development or the Illawarra Regional Development Board.
The Illawarra Regional Development Board (IRDB) has been delegated authority by the NSW Department of State and Regional Development to sponsor skilled migrants under the Skilled Regional Sponsored 475/487 visa. The Department has temporarily suspended the delegation of this authority to the IRDB in order to minimise any potential adverse impact to prospective skilled migrants from China arising from this event. All other NSW Regional Development Boards continue to be authorised by the NSW Department of State and Regional Development to sponsor skilled migrants for the Skilled Regional Sponsored visa.
