终于新政策要2007年7.1日实行了,

Australian Citizenship Bill 2006 passed by Parliament
On 1 March 2007, the Australian Citizenship Bill 2006 was passed by the Australian Parliament.

It is likely that the new legislation will commence on 1 July 2007.

The proposed residential requirements would not apply to people who become permanent residents before the new Act commences. They would only be required to meet the current two-year residential qualifying period provided they apply for citizenship within three (3) years of commencement of the new Act.

入籍居住要求改成4年了,而不是原来期待的3年.
The proposed residence requirements for Australian citizenship are that applicants would need:

four (4) years lawful residence in Australia immediately prior to making an application for Australian citizenship with at least 12 months as a permanent resident, and

absences from Australia of no more than 12 months in total in the four (4) years prior to application, and no more than three (3) months in the 12 month permanent residency period prior to application

我的理解是：
还要注意，2007年7月前的pr，要在生效后的3年内申请入籍，否则，要4年吧。

它只是提到新政策生效前获得PR的按旧法，没有明确规定是在新政策生效之前登陆的。但是为了保险起见，我们还是应该在新政策出台之前登陆。是不是今年7月1日正式实施？

楼上的,更正一下, 你对PR的理解有误, 获得PR准签还不是PR,需要登陆激活以后,才是真正的PR.

我的理解是此前的PR要想享受2年的老政策的话就需要在2008年7月前登陆，等到2010年7月（就是新政策实施后两年）时去申请澳籍刚好两年（不考虑中间间歇回国的时间）。否则也只能按照新政策办了

to be more accrate, PR need to do long landing before July 1 ,2008 then they could apply according to 2/5 old policy,

but they must do short-landing and become PR before July 1 ,2007.
