About the role

The Lead Software Engineer - Mobile will be responsible for the Mobile Team’s development and delivery of SBS On Demand’s Android, iOS and tvOS applications. You will do this by liaising with the Product team to bridge the gap between product requirements and the technical implementation. You will work closely with the Platforms team to consume in house APIs as well as integrating the applications with APIs provided by third parties. You will be the SME for mobile application development and demonstrate a strong understanding of platform specific idioms when developing apps for Android, iOS and tvOS.

Teach as well as write secure, extensible, maintainable and testable code
Work within an Agile Software Development environment and help stakeholders understand the benefits of the approach
Work collaboratively with the SBS On Demand team and stakeholders
About you

You will have 5+ years of mobile application development experience and 2+ years of lead developer experience with an emphasis on Swift, Java, Objective-C and Kotlin.

High Proficiency with Swift/Objective-C, Java/Kotlin, Cocoa Touch, and Android SDK
S.O.L.I.D. understanding of Software Engineering principles and be able to explain these to other team members
Passion for delivering quality mobile applications with an emphasis on unit tests coupled with CI/CD
Understand the importance of automation
Extensive experience working with APIs and be able to articulate the different application for GraphQL and RESTful APIs
Know the importance of building teams that own problems over individuals and instilling the values of best practice in those teams

Demonstrated experience working with or developing streaming video applications
DASH, HLS, VMAP, IMA, and IDFA have meaning to you
Deep understanding of how the web works to deliver streaming video content from a server to a client
