BRISBANE FIREWORKS
South Bank will deliver its biggest New Year's Eve fireworks display yet on Tuesday.
There will be two 10-minute shows to welcome 2014, one at 8.30pm and one at midnight.
The skies above the river city will be lit up with five tonnes of fireworks, or 30,000 pyrotechnic effects, fired from three barges and three city rooftops during each display.
The best vantage spots at the South Bank Parklands traditionally fill up early so event-goers are advised to arrive early.
Bikes, scooters, pets, drink bottles with broken seals (including bottles of water or soft drink), metal cutlery, glass and alcohol are not permitted in the parklands during the event.
The Story Bridge is also set be a centrepiece on the big night when it will sparkle with thousands of LED lights.
Brisbane Deputy Mayor Adrian Schrinner said there would also be a light show on the bridge.
"The New Year's Eve light show will be the icing on the cake to help bring in a bright 2014," Mr Schrinner said.
The bridge will be lit up in an amber colour before and after the firework shows. |
