My today's homework
今天的英语课是上次SUE老师布置的戒烟、戒酒的广告,我在网上搜了一些资料,结合自己家里的情况,老公是英国人,也爱喝酒,所以添加了英国人喝酒的数据,SUE老师批阅说广告写得非常不错。我准备给老公也看看,希望他也能戒酒。

a.The effects on health
People who have been drinking large amounts of alcohol for long periods of time would damage their health heavily; especially when consumed quickly it can impair health, memory and have far–reaching effects on the brain and liver.
We do know that heavy drinking may affect the brain; people may have difficulty walking, slurred speech, hearing, blurred vision, disorders, slowed reaction, traffic incidents and so on. Some people drink too much and memory is highly influenced. They could not remember what they did and what they talked about.
Heavy drinking makes heart disease, strokes, cancers, and nerve damage.
b.The effects on the health of others
Alcoholism is also known as a family disease. Actions we regret, arguments, even violence, are more likely to occur if alcohol is involved. Alcoholic can disrupt family life and cause many families to separate. Parental alcoholism also has severe effects on normal children of alcoholics.
c.The cost associated with the addiction
Alcoholic cost a lot of money. Alcoholic drinkers spend on alcohol 4 to 5 thousand dollars per year if they purchases about 10 to 15 dollars per day. Their health cost more when they are sick and could not work because of drinking alcohol.
d.Why the substance is addictive
Alcohol is addictive substances for a variety of reasons. It has been referred to as “the most dangerous drug.” The more you drink, the more tolerant your body becomes to its effects. You may be shocked to know that 1 in 13 of the British population is dependent on alcohol and 1 in 4 adults in the UK drinks too much Alcohol. They cannot get through the day without a drink. Many people drink because it helps them forget their problems, relieves their anxiety and stresses for a while. The alcohol makes them feel good so their brain tells them to drink more and more and more … Unfortunately these feelings are very temporary. Alcohol is actually makes things worse in the long term.
e.How to give up
You may need some help and support from the family, friends, groups if your drinking has become a long-term habit.
Some people need professional help to kick the habit.
Just set your goals, and make the changes happen.
Believe yourself! You can kick the drinking alcohol habit.
