卡尔。威特是１９世纪德国的一个著名天才。他八九岁时就能自由运用德语，法语，意大利语，拉丁语，英语和希腊语这６种语言。与那些过早失去后劲的神童不同，他一生都在德国著名　的大学里授学，直到逝世为止。
这本书是他爸爸写的，卡尔。威特并不是天赋有多高，恰恰相反，他出生后被认为是个有些痴呆的婴儿--而是全赖他父亲教育有方。
他爸爸的教育核心理论是，一个人最终能否有所成就，其天生禀赋起着一定的影响，但最主要的还是后天教育，教育得当，普通的孩子也能成长为天才，自然也能成就一番令人瞩目的事业；教育不当，即使是再大的天才也会被毁掉。
我觉得他写的这本书，教育理论不仅是对孩子的教育，也包括了怎样处理夫妻关系，怎样处理人际关系。非常实用。节选这一段是关于孩子学外语的，但我觉得对大人也会有启示。

我早决心让儿子尽可能早地打下学会一门主要外语的基础。因为教给孩子多种语言，用利于孩子正确地理解词义和进行思考。从先易后难的原则出发，我决定让儿子在掌握本国语读法的基础上，学习相近的外国语。
学校一般规定学习外国语首先从拉丁语起，但我觉得这样做过于勉强，只有从与德语最相近的法语开始学起才是合乎逻辑的，所以就采取了先易后难的顺序。学拉丁语对于十几岁孩子来说也是相当难的，被视为头痛的语言。因此，我经过了相当的准备以后才开始教他。为了提高儿子的兴趣，在教拉丁语之前，我先把威吉尔《艾丽绮斯》故事情节高超的思想漂亮的文体等讲给他听，《艾丽绮斯》是卡尔从小就熟悉的诗篇，现在详细深入的讲解对卡尔不仅没有难度，反而让他觉得亲切和更加透彻。我还对儿子说如果想成为一个卓越的学者，就一定要学好拉丁语。儿子的好胜心被小激发起来了。
卡尔在８岁就掌握了６种语言，没有什么秘决，以下是我总结的一些经验。
１.        用“耳”学外语
以拉丁语为例，拉丁语是学生们的一项重要基本功，要想研究学习离不开它。而且一旦学会拉丁语，就容易学会法语，西班语和意大利语。但学生们差不多都讨厌拉丁语。在我看来，之所以出现这种情况是由于他们没有打下学习拉丁语的基础。鉴于此，我认为有必要开始给儿子打好学习拉丁语的基础。因此在儿子摇篮时期，我就开始教他拉丁语。
诸位一定认为我的说法前后矛盾，同时也奇怪我如何能够教导一个躺在摇篮里的，除了吃和睡什么也不懂的婴儿。

其实很简单，就是让他听。由于婴儿善于用耳而不善于用眼，所以我就利用听的办法教儿子拉丁语。每当儿子睡醒以后情绪比较好的时候，我就用清晰而缓慢的语调对他朗诵威吉尔的《艾丽绮斯》，这是一部出色的叙事诗,同时也是一首极好的摇篮曲，儿子非常喜欢，每每听着听着就入睡了。

因为有这样好的基础，所以儿子学习拉丁语时感到很轻松，并且很快就能背诵拉丁文《艾丽绮斯》。
学生们之所以讨厌拉丁语，完全是学校里的那种用图表和规则教拉丁语的方法所致。这种机械的方法是应该受批评的。
２.与其背不如练
我从不系统的教授语法，因为即使教孩子语法，孩子也不会懂。诚然，对大人来说以语法为纲来学习外语是有效的，但对孩子必须采用“与其背莫如练”的方法。因为任何一个孩子不都是用这样的方法学会了本国语言吗？

教语言时，通俗易懂的诗最易于记忆，所以我总是先教些诗歌。使儿子熟悉这种语言的感觉。掌握了一些基本的东西后，我就要求儿子运用到日常生活中来。一旦教哪种语言，我平时就用这种语言跟他交谈。儿子若是遇上不会表达的地方，用德语跟我说话，我就不理会他，逼他自己想出表达的办法来。同时我还要求他看所学语言的书籍，因为要学好一种语言的最好办法就是看得懂该种语言的书，任何语言最精华的部分都在书里。遇上不懂的单词时，我就让他自己去查辞典，后来查辞典的次数越来越少，就表明他已经掌握那种语言了。

此外，我还鼓励儿子与外国孩子通信，起初是和一些外国朋友的孩子，后来范围渐渐扩大到学习希腊语时，他开始给一个希腊孩子写信，不久，从希腊就来回信，儿子高兴极了。从此，他对希腊很感兴趣，便读了许多希腊的书。接着他又和意大利，英国的孩子通信了。他对这些国家也很感兴趣，还兴致勃勃地研究起他们的地理和风俗习惯。就在通信的一来一往中，儿子的外国语长进了不少。

３.        用不同的语言去读同一个故事
读过一篇小说，就不想再看了，而儿子却乐意多次听相同的一个故事。我抓住这一秘诀，在教外国语时，让儿子用各种不同的语言去读同一个故事。比如在读安徒生童话里，即让他用地德语，又让他用法语中，意大利语，拉丁语，英语和希腊语读。这一方法行之有效，儿子将各种语言融会贯通，学习起来又轻松又快捷。
４.        弄清词源
要学好外语，弄清词源是很有益的。为此我让儿子从小就这样做，并做了好几本笔记。比如为了记住某一个拉丁单词时，我总让儿子去调查由此产生出了哪些现代词，并把结果记在笔记本上。这样他既学习了那个拉丁语单词，又记住一由此派生的现代词，这样他即学会上了那个拉丁语单词，又记住了由此派生的现代词，对语言发展变化的规律也有了直观的认识，可谓一举得。

５.        最有效的办法是各种游戏
我要在这里再次提醒父母们，孩子学习语言的能力是惊人的，关键在于是否用了最有效的教学方法。我以为最有效的办法是在学习中与孩子做各种游戏。
在儿子刚学会说英语，我就把“您早”这句话13种语言教他，儿子很快就学会了。而且学习的方法也有很趣，每天早起，我让儿子对着代表１３个国家的１３个玩具娃娃，用各国的语言说“您早”。根据孩子爱玩，好动的特点，我和他利用语言做各种游戏，比如讲故事，说歌谣，猜谜语，比赛组词造句，编动作说谚语，编故事等。如此生动地学习，卡尔怎么会学不好呢？

从生活中发现英语，并展开联想会学得比较快。
今天我在想把CD拷到硬盘上，用了windows media player,其中一项叫rip,就是拷贝功能。
这个单词虽简单，我也想到意思，但决定深入了解一下，但在字典中竟没发现拷的功能
一起来学学有什么功能吧。

第一个词形变化RIP （rips, ripiping, ripped）这个是属于尾字要双写的，为什么，网上所查：单词最后一个字母是辅音，而它前面有一个且只有一个双元音（a e i o u）时，这个动词变为Ving时，最后一个字母要双写.
eg: forget- forgetting
    travel- travelling

意义：
1.=  tear when something rips or when you rip it ,you tear it forcefully with your hands or with a tool such as knife.
Eg:  I felt the banner rip as we were pushed in opposite directions.
我感觉横幅被撕裂了，当我们被推向相反的方向时。
想像：
春节时回家的广州火车站，我的行李包被撕裂了，当我被推向相反的方向时。

2 A rip is a long cut or split in something made of cloth or paper

不知道这样是否是对的翻译，
关于这句的ＲＩＰ，字典里是用原形的，但很多人建议用ＲＩＰＰＥＤ，讨论后觉得两种应该都可以吧。
又有人建议行李包不可能用ＲＩＰ，不知道正确答案。
有哪个ＤＸ知道就写出来吧。。。

Former One Nation leader Pauline Hanson says she plans to sell her Queensland property and resettle in Britain.

Fairfax and News Ltd newspapers say she revealed her plans in an interview with Woman's Day magazine, published on Monday.

"I'm going to be away indefinitely. It's pretty much goodbye forever," she was quoted as saying in the interview.

"I've really had enough. I want peace in my life. I want contentment, and that's what I'm aiming for."

The former federal MP's hardline views on race sparked a national debate over immigration policy and Aboriginal disadvantage from the time she entered parliament in 1996 at the same election which made John Howard prime minister.

Ms Hanson, 55, told the magazine she's disappointed with the way Australia has changed.

"Sadly, the land of opportunity is no more applicable," she said.

Ms Hanson said she'll sell her property at Coleyville, southwest of Brisbane, spend a few months in the South Island of New Zealand and eventually relocate to Britain.

Ms Hanson's father is English and her mother's family is Irish, which means she can hold dual citizenship.

Her last tilt at politics came last year with an unsuccessful bid for the Queensland state seat of Beaudesert as an independent.

In her maiden speech, Ms Hanson said she believed that "we are in danger of being swamped by Asians", and questioned multiculturalism.
