Every Sydnersider know Palm Beach for many reasons. Due to wet weather in Blue Mountains National Park region, we could explore Beam Beach region in Sydney, instead, for this Sunday June 5, 2011.
Palm Beach to Avalon (14 KM, return, 3-5 hours)
Thus walk traverses three of Sydney’s finest beaches below some of its most expensive coastal real estate. An idyllic scroll along each peach-coloured surf beach ends with an invigorating climb up and over the heasland to the next beach. There is a bit of road walking on this unbanedised peninsula bit the coastal views are outstanding for the entire walk, particularly from the patch of bush on Bangalley Head, and you can have hot drinking at the cafes and boutiques of Avalon before returning Palm Bach.
Barrenjoey Head (3.5 KM return for 1-1.5 hours)
Barrenjoey lighthouse sits on the hammerhead tip of the Palm Beach peninsula. It looks like a long way up but it’s actually quite a quick walk to the top via convict built track or an old stone service road. Naturally there are fine views of Pittwater and the southern coastline and you could explore the lighthouse and keepers cottages.
