OMG! I’ve just seen in the New York Times that the US’s conservative, gun-loving, moose-eating, abortion-prohibiting, family-values-promoting VP nominee will be a grandmom in just 4 months time. And just 44 years old!
我的老天爷呀！我刚才在纽约时报上看到那个新当选的，美国保守主义者，支持平民拥有枪支法律者，支持猎杀驯鹿者，反对堕胎，积极推崇家庭价值观的未来美国副总统候选人，即将在4个月之后成为一个44岁的祖母！
This comes days after unfounded internet rumours suggested that her fifth child was her daughter’s baby.
这则消息的发现是跟随前一则：她的第五个孩子其实是她女儿的孩子（跟绝望主妇的剧情雷同）！
Today it was announced that Bristol Palin is pregnant. She will marry the father, Levi - soon I suppose. I wonder what America will think of this latest news.

‘In his first remarks on the matter, (he) raised his voice when asked whether his campaign or other Democratic operatives were working to advance rumors surrounding the Palin family.
我保证发觉这则小道消息的人不是我们竞选团队的！
“Our people were not involved in any way in this and they will not be,” Mr. Obama snapped. “And if I ever thought there was somebody in my campaign that was involved in something like that, they’d be fired, OK?”
我们的人不可能被牵扯进这件事情，如果我一旦发现这件事是我们自己人干的（发觉这则小道消息），我马上把他解雇！
Mr. Obama said the pregnancy “has no relevance to Governor Palin’s performance as a governor or her potential performance as a vice president.” He added that, “my mother had me when she was 18. How family deals with issues and teen-age children – that shouldn’t be the topic of our politics.”
Obama还强调，Palin的女儿未婚先孕和Palin本人没关系，这不影响palin本人作为参议院的业绩，还说“我妈妈怀我的时候才18岁，别人怎么处理这件事情，是人家自己的事情，是家庭事件，和政治无关。”
“So,” he added, “I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories.”’

Morality and religious beliefs aside, Bristol Palin is 5 months pregnant now. What is the age of consent in Alaska?
站在道德和宗教的角度来看这件事情，Bristol现在已经有5个月的身孕了，那她怀孕的时候有多大呢？这符合阿拉斯加的法定怀孕年龄么？接着挖。。。。。。
She is 17 now. When did she turn 17? When did they start having sexual contact? What is the age of the father, and did he hold any position of authority over Bristol Palin, i.e., a supervisor, counselor, lay leader (no pun intended!)? Is he more than 3 years her senior? Did he use the internet or a computer to entice, plan or arrange any meetings with Bristol for the purpose of having sexual contact? If so, she may be a victim of statutory rape or abuse.
Obama觉得翻人家家底，这种竞争手段不道德，但是其实更深一层的看这件事情。这是共和党的女儿估计给共和党所推崇的信条上眼药呢，搞不好这个女儿是民主党派去的间谍！民主党和共和党在堕胎这件事上完全吃不同意见，而这个女儿正好是民主党支持堕胎的一个例证。我觉得这个留言的人挺厉害的，让我们拭目以待事情的进展吧。
As a self-labeled conservative and an elected official who is sworn to uphold the laws of Alaska, Sarah Palin and her husband
should be intent on enforcing the laws of Alaska, which are intended to protect all young women such as Bristol Palin, whether they intend to marry now that the deed is done, or not. Regardless of Bristol’s personal situation, there is a larger issue of the law as deterence and punitive justice here, unless the Palins think those laws should be waived in their case . . . I’d like to know what others think. Any lawyers or prosecutors out there who are familiar with Alaskan jurisprudence? I haven’t seen anything about the father yet, other than that they intend to marry and raise the baby together. Bristol seems to be wearing a scarlet letter alone at this point. |
