To facilitate the smooth running of the production database environment on a day to day basis.
* To liaise with the Application Development team in regards to any work in progress that will affect the production environment. Technical Services is a cross functional team and the incumbent may be asked to assume responsibility for duties outside of database.
Inherent Requirements:
* Microsoft SQL Server 2000 essential
* System Integration experience
* Project life-cycle experience
* Microsoft SQL Server 2005 desirable
* ITIL education highly desirable
* Ability to program in MS/SQL desirable

Duties and responsibilities:
Incident Management
* Provide Level 1 & 2 incident support.
* Ensure SLAs are honoured.
* Collaborate with external suppliers when involved in a resolution.
* Ensure job ticket is updated with status.
* Work Requests
* Problem management
* Plan and execute work requests (< 20 days).
* Provide support of the production server environment
* Maintain operations standards and guidelines
* Prepare maintenance schedules, including but not limited to bug fixes, image backups, patch updates.
* Initiate the use of new technologies to improve availability and reduce downtime
* Develop scripts to automate processes and monitoring.
* Preparation of intuitive documentation and diagrams for use by team members and Central Processing staff.
* Assist in the training of Central Processing staff for monitoring purposes.
* Follow change management procedures.
* Production of high quality accurate technical diagrams
* Work with other team members to plan the implementation of server solutions.
* Participate in projects when assigned.
* Liaise with business units, other IT teams and Vendor Partners.
* Maintain health of the servers and related infrastructure
* Tuning the database servers for optimal performance.
* Installation, configuration and upgrading of database servers.
* Supporting any new development and the ongoing maintenance of the applications.
* Ensuring that procedures relating to the Disaster Recovery environment are properly implemented and tested.
* Evaluation and implementation of productivity tools for various DBA tasks.
* Training and coaching of peers in DBA procedures.
* Release of new database into the Production environment (Change Management and Version Control)
