Dear Client,
Thank you for your enquiry about General Skilled Migration.
A reference number has been allocated to your correspondence
and can be found in the subject line of this email.
UPDATE FOR APPLICATIONS LODGED BEFORE 1 SEPTEMBER 2007
We have experienced a severe increase in applications and application-
related enquiries, due to recent changes to the General Skilled
Migration programme in September 2007.
This has affected our ability to respond to enquiries as quickly
as we would like. It is also taking longer than expected for
applications to be acknowledged, or for case officers to receive
documents after an application has been lodged. We apologise
for these delays and wish to keep you updated on application
processing times.
You can get updated information on application processing times
at anytime, by sending an email to aspc.processing@immi.gov.au
for an automated reply. This information is updated each Tuesday.
INFORMATION FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE ALREADY LODGED AN APPLICATION
If you lodged your application and have not had a reply from
us yet, do not be concerned.
We will be in contact with you as your application progresses.
Processing your payment - we are aiming to process payments:
- within 10 days of lodgement for onshore subclasses
- within 6 weeks of lodgement for offshore subclasses
We will contact you to let you know that your payment has been
processed if you provided us with an email address on your application
and permitted us to use it.
Please ensure that you maintain adequate funds in your account
to enable your visa application charge to be processed. We will
contact you if there are problems with a credit card payment.
If you haven't heard from us within 13 weeks after lodgement,
please check application processing times by sending an email
to aspc.processing@immi.gov.au for an automated reply. This information
is updated each Tuesday. There may have been further delays.
Acknowledging applications - after your payment has been processed
your application is then further assessed for validity. This
may take another 6 weeks.
We will contact you with an acknowledgement letter containing
a client reference number and a receipt once your application
has been assessed as valid.
If your application is not valid, all documents and payments
will be returned to you.
Valid applications will then be placed in the queue waiting allocation
to a case officer for review.
If you haven't heard from us within 6 weeks after your payment
has been accepted, please check application processing times
by sending an email to aspc.processing@immi.gov.au for an automated
reply. This information is updated each Tuesday. There may have
been further delays.
OTHER ENQUIRIES
If your enquiry is not related to the acknowledgement or receipt
of an application, please be assured that we will respond as
soon as possible. We aim to reply to all enquiries within 2
weeks but it can sometimes take up to 4 weeks for more complex
enquiries.
There is no need to resend your enquiry if you don't hear from
us during that time.
Yours sincerely,
Department of Immigration and Citizenship
