Yes, I got one and I setup dlink cloud account and as you said the camera resolution is only 240p which I never thinking about. But it works with limited function. I am thinking using my raspberry pi or my my xeon 16 virtual cpu to get more function from that camera.
The camera consumes around 300k bytes/second which is very high. I worry about the bandwidth if I was not at home watching the camera in cloud.
No, it is waste of money to buy hd camera. All I want to know if there is a thief in my house while I am out. The thief will wrap his head with cloth. It does not matter I install hd camera or not. If I can get a camera to see through the cloth, that camera might work.
I cannot manage to get mydlink cloud using my two dlink cameras. Maybe dlink only allow one camera for cloud.
I have to install https://zoneminder.com/ on my raspberry pi 2 which I do not have any use. raspberry pi 2 has limited cpu resource, so 320x240 is already too much work for my raspberry pi 2. I cannot use my 1u server for security purpose. The server will cost me at least 80w per hour and I need to run it 24x7. The raspberry pi 2 only use 5w per hour.
Now I have all the home security function I can imagine on my android phone.
You will know there is a thief in your house at least that happened and you can call the police to get someone visit your house or trigger the alarm remote.
My colleague is paying for that. He is paying nzd30 each month. There is no security camera in the package. He plan to install security camera himself like what I did.
