2 October 2009 —
The Manager of GSM Brisbane has notified the Institute of the following arrangements. Updated Decision Ready Checklists are available for MIA members (Login to myMIA, go to "Member Resources", then "Decision Ready Checklists")
The recent changes by the Minister mean we must alter the existing arrangements in relation to our Decision Ready Service offered to Registered Migration Agents.
As from this week we will only be able to offer this service to the following cohorts of clients, please note the 'disclaimer' in relation to the 485's.
485 (PDF) (27.52 Kb) : PhD Students - any occupation

Clients with both Bachelor & Masters Qualifications completed onshore ** whilst we may receive this checklist we won't be able to action it for approx 2 months**
Clients with both Bachelor & Honours Degree (2nd Class or higher) completed onshore ** whilst we may receive this checklist we won't be able to action it for approx 2 months**
487 (PDF) (32.43 Kb) : CSL occupations
885 (PDF) (40.5 Kb), 886 (PDF) (45.62 Kb) : CSL occupations
887 (PDF) (40.26 Kb) : All applicants
In terms of providing supporting documentation to demonstrate work experience or residence in a designated area there is no requirement to email us each pay slip for the 12 month period, cumulative earnings from the start of the period to the end of the financial year are sufficient, i.e. two payslips, not 26. Similarly a residential tenancy agreement and a utility bill is sufficient for demonstrating residing in a designated area. I have noticed that often clients are running out of upload capacity in e-visa on account of trying to upload every utility bill and payslip, this is not necessary.
I understand the angst that the recent change has caused in the community amongst our clients and there is now a scramble to find out how long an application will take. In the interests of trying to provide some guidance to clients in these uncertain times I am prepared to offer the following rough guidance. If an applicant meets one of the above criteria it is likely, not guaranteed, that we will be able to finalise their application this program year, ie. before 30 June 2010. In relation to the 485 applicants, once we clear the above 4 priority groups we will move further down but I am not in a position to commit to that at present. I apologise that I can't provide any stronger wording than this, we are doing the best we can within the constraints of the new Directions.
Unfortunately we continue to see large number of Agents emailing and posting us in documentation, a gentle reminder to use the e-visa facility would be greatly appreciated. We have naturally seen a surge of enquiries following the new Direction and there may be some delays in responding to client enquiries and attaching emails and paper mail to files as we deal with the surge. |
