Job Description –SQL Server DBA
To be successful in this challenging role as a SQL Server DBA you will have extensive commercial experience with managing multiple large MS-SQL databases. The position will require a dedicated, detail focused person who can take ownership of a problem and work it through to a satisfactory conclusion. The individual will be required to act as the gatekeeper for the databases.

Responsibilities
•        Establish/Define processes for SQL Server Administration
•        SQL Server Database Administration (pro-active management, monitoring, backups, etc.)
•        Job scheduling and automation of maintenance tasks
•        Performance optimisation (SQL Server, queries and underlying hardware)
•        Capacity planning
•        Control and vetting of developer artefacts (stored procedures, database design, indexes etc.)
•        Change management on SQL Servers
•        Data migration planning, design and programming

Essential Skills
•        Extensive knowledge of SQL Server administration (both 2005 and 2008)
•        Proven Backup/Restore/SysAdmin knowledge and ability
•        Excellent knowledge of T-SQL
•        Vetting and running SQL scripts
•        Reading and interpreting query plans
•        Data Mirroring
•        Knowledge of SSIS
•        Knowledge of Windows and SQL Server clustering
•        Knowledge of SQL Server Security

Skills - Nice to have
•        Knowledge of Analysis Services
•        Knowledge of Reporting Services
