THE city’s public transport shortage will be countered via 500 new buses over four years in the Brisbane City Council Budget, says Lord Mayor Campbell Newman.
He is also pushing ahead with a Paris-style bicycle hire scheme and has ordered improvements to Adelaide, Alice, Creek, Market and  Water streets and along Bowen and Vernon terraces and Commercial and Gardens Point roads.
Brisbane’s inner city is also set to receive $6.4 million in green Budget initiatives with more than $2.4 million of this dedicated to improving active and healthy transport options around the city.
