I refer to the health examinations that you have undertaken in connection with your application for a visa to Australia.
What is the current status of my health examination results?
A Medical Officer of the Commonwealth (MOC) has considered your completed health examination reports and advised that additional medical information is required before an opinion can be provided on whether you meet the health requirement for your Australian visa.
What additional information is required?
The additional medical information required is outlined below: 603
Respiratory specialist (pulmonologist) investigation and report required for current status regarding tuberculosis. A recent chest x-ray showed RUL opacity and pleural thickening. Please include the following information:- Clinical examination findings;- Results of 3 current smears and cultures (sputum samples taken on 3 different mornings, or other appropriate specimens as clinically indicated) and cultures for Mycobacterium tuberculosis (plus DST if cultures are positive).- Old chest x-rays for comparison (if available). Reports can be submitted if images available are not digital.- Repeat PA image 3 months after the initial CXR- Any previous reports regarding any treatment of tuberculosis; If TB has been excluded, please exclude other pathology that could cause the abnormal x-ray findings.
What do I need to do next?
You should call the panel doctor who carried out your first health examination to arrange an appointment to discuss the additional information requested and undergo any additional health examinations required. Please take this letter with you to the panel doctor when you visit the clinic. You will also need to provide your passport (or approved alternative identity documentation) to the doctor for identification purposes.
What will the panel doctor do?
The panel doctor will then assist you to obtain the required information and enter the additional health examination results into the Department’s eHealth system using the HAP ID and date of birth provided on the top of this letter.
When does this information need to be provided?
This information must be supplied to Global Health within 28 days. This period is based on the 28 days provided under Regulation 2.15 to respond. However, we would encourage you to provide this information as soon as possible to facilitate processing of your visa application.
Please note that a request to undertake a further health examination does not mean that your visa application will be approved. I would also like to remind you that it is your responsibility to meet all expenses incurred in connection with any additional health examinations requested as part of the visa application process.
