3.2 magnitude earthquake hits Melbourne
AN earthquake has been felt rumbling through Melbourne this morning with residents saying their houses shaking in what felt like “an explosion”.
Geoscience Australia has confirmed a 3.2 magnitude earthquake struck Melbourne’s outer suburb of Pakenham just after 6am this morning.
The earthquake authority estimates the rumble could be felt by people up to 28km from the earthquake’s centre, and was mostly felt across Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.

Residents in the Dandenong area, Scoresby and Ferntree Gully reported tremors lasting up to 10 seconds.
A caller from Mendy’s Creek in the Dandenongs told 3AW it felt the quake “went from one end of the house to the other. Like a freight train just went past us”.
