It is the time to resume easy/medium bushwalking again after several so-called hard ones such as Snow Mountains of Mt K National Park and K-K track between Kanangra-Boyd National Park and Blue Mountains National Park.

We are going to Mt Victoria, The most western village in the Blue Mountains. Many of local walkes are full of story, with several tracks following the original roads that descended from the top of Blue Mountains down to Hartley Valley. Other walks tend to be local secrets (tucked away on council land, rather than in the National Park) and although poorly signposted, are fascinating historic tracks in their own right.

There will be three short tracks for this Sunday Aug 21, 2011.

1)        Mt Piddington, Fairy Bower and Cox’s Cave: This local favourite includes a secret grotto, a forgotten etching in the romanic ‘Fairy Bower’, a precarious ladder up to Cox’s Cave and sheltered woodland gullies.
2)        Little Zig Zag and Wilsons Glen: Thus beautiful old track features sweeping valley views, the romanic Bushranger’s Cave, mossy glens and secret patches of rainforest.
3)        Victoria Falls: Although the return journey from Victoria Falls is rather grueling (a whopping 380 meters ascent), the waterfalls themselves are so beautiful that the trip is well worth it. There are actually two sets of falls close together – silver Cascades and then Victoria Falls proper. Depending on how much rain there’s been, bith make good spots for swimming if you like in summer.

The meeting time and place
10:00 AM, Sunday August 21, 2011, at 18 Apex Avenue of Mt Victoria 2786.

for joining great bushwalking and climbing today at Mt Victoria and Blackheath of Blue Mountains NP.

Six of us enjoyed very much with very different experience.

In this world it seems that MMs are always more powerful (than GGs).

Great Southern and Southern Forest

八月二十三日,在Perth市的Kings Park 走了一些小路,下午和晚上和来自于悉尼但现在在Perth工作or定居的朋友:小波、Newgay、老鼠爱上猫 一起聚会;

八月二十四日,在Porongurup Range National Park 的 Balancing Rock and Castle Rock 爬山, 4.53 KM, with 486 M ascent for 3 个小时;

八月二十五日,在WA的最高山:Bluff Knoff of Stirling Range National Park 爬山。来回6.43 KM,爬高797米,用了5个小时;

八月二十六日,在Toolbraunp Peak of Stirling Range National Park 爬山。这个track 都是石头和石头籽,来回4.56km,爬高666米,用了5个小时;

八月二十七日,先在Albany 的Torndirrup National Park 的Nature Bridge 徒步,以后在Danmark 的Greens Pool and Elephant Rocks 爬山,再在Walpole-Nomalup National Park 的 Giants Tree top walk 和 Giant Tingle Tree loop walk 徙步;

八月二十八日,先走Swarbrick Art loop track, 然后走Fernhook Falls, 下午在D'Entrecasteant National Park 的 Tookulup loop track and Window's Lookout 爬山,那里的风景绝对是超一流的;

Gloucester Tree of Glocester National Park

Facebook.com/sydneyhikingclub 看一些照片,我要在这里上载一些相片later on.

The story on Bluff Knoll of WA

As a general rule, WA has hills, not mountains. But you wouldn't know it when you're standing beneath the chiselled mass of Bluff Knoll. Armour plated in rock, and with a summit that protrudes like Roger Ramjet's chin, this craggy mountain is softened only by the wildflower displays that decorate it's slopes each spring. From the trailhead, Bluff Knoll's summit cliffs appear impenetrable but the walking track knows better, nudging it's way through a break in the escarpment before U-turning back towards the peak. View from there stretch across the craggy Stirling Range and south towards the Albany coast.

WHERE Bluff Knoll is in the Stirling Range NP, around 400 km southeast of Perth and 80 km north of Albany, with more than 1000 species of windflowers, including a range of carnivorous sundews - step off the track at your own peril.
DON'T MISS A springtime visit, when Bluff Knoll erupts in flowers and colour.
DISTANCE 6 km.
GRADE A steep and unrelenting climb, ascending more than 700 m. Pack for alpine conditions - Bluff Knoll is the only spot in the state (WA) to ever see snow.
