耶蓬小镇 - I am wondering why LZ like to use Chinese name for Australia place. it's really hard to know where you were. Did you get the name from Chinese version of lonely planet?
Here are some interesting comment from lonely planet:
Perth is separated from the rest of Australia by the Nullarbor Plain (Nullarbor being Latin nulla meaning ‘no tree’ ). Perth was named by Captain James Stirling after the city of the same name in Scotland. On the whole people in Perth show no signs of missing the rest of Australia, being entirely content with the beautiful city they have and rather inclined to think on the contrary that they would be better without the rest of us. Indeed West Australia refer to East Coast inhabitants as ‘t’othersiders’ and ‘Eastern States’, and this is usually in tones of disparagement.
Tasmanians feel they are often overlooked by the rest of the Australia which they refer to as the Mainland, the inhabitants being Mainlanders. And certainly something seems to get lost in the translation over Bass Strait so that Tasmania and the rest of Australia are never quite on the same wave-length. Tasmania has some of the most beautiful scenery in the world and parts of it are still quite wild and inaccessible. The South Coast in particular where the Roaring Forties fetch up is remote, dangerous and beautiful.
