Chemical spill and fire in Canning Vale

There is a chemical spill and fire at a building on Coulson Way in Canning Vale. Potentially dangerous smoke is blowing from Coulson Way along Roe Highway in a north easterly direction towards Spencer Road.

The smoke plume is impacting people in an area bounded by Yale Road, Spencer Road and Nicholson Road in the suburbs of Langford, Canning Vale and Thornlie and surrounding areas.

People at Whaleback Golf Course are being asked to leave in a north westerly direction away from the affected area.

WHAT TO DO:
• People in the area should remain inside, out of the smoke or fumes, with doors and windows closed.  Air conditioners should also be switched off.
• People should stay away from the area. If you are already in the area take advice from emergency services personnel.
• People with medical concerns should contact their local doctor or call Health Direct on 1800 022 222.


ROAD CLOSURES:
A number of roads have been closed and motorists should avoid the area.
• Roe Highway between Kenwick Link and Willeri Drive
• Nicholson Road between High Road and Bannister Road
