阿德的音乐氛围确实还不错。我在这里听了很多的好音乐会,当然别的城市,悉尼,墨尔本我相信都有很多。但是有时我在这里很便宜或者不花钱听得演奏家都要比我在国内音乐厅或花大价钱听的有分量,并且观众的素质确实高。
下面是我以前听完一个音乐会后写的日记的片断:
音乐会就在我们亲切的Elder Hall, 6点半开始,总共历时3个小时,他今天的曲目是肖斯卡科维奇的《24首前奏曲与赋格》,音乐学院前几天发邮件告知我们学生这个音乐会很重要,要我们免费去看,但是我想这样的曲目一般只有常年听音乐会的人或者钢琴专业的人才会去,本来票价也是不便宜的。果真人不是很多,很多空位。roger woodward干脆利索的准时出场了,还有一个漂亮的女孩做page tuner,因为他是整本的演奏,所以需要看谱。他的演奏让我震惊了,不管是暴风雨般的气势还是细腻的单音,他都弹得恰到好处。我觉得他有时在钢琴面前像个皇帝,驾驭钢琴毫不费力、果断勇敢,有时又和钢琴很亲密,会把心事娓娓道来。我也正在练其中一首曲子,听完他的版本给我很大启发。
这个woodward简直让所有在场的人震惊,虽然听众不多,但是大家听得极其投入,他在弹完前12首后中场休息10分钟,调音师上来调了一下被他狂击过一个多小时的斯坦威钢琴。接着又开始,演奏完整部的前奏曲与赋格后,我们坐得都累得不行,可演奏者好像还激情充沛,听众虽然坐得很累,但是热情高涨,掌声不断,于是他加演3次之多,是我近期在elder hall看过加演最多的。

Roger Woodward studied church music with Kenneth Long in Sydney, conducting with Sir Eugene Goossens, piano with Alexander Sverjensky, a pupil of Alexander Glazunov (and possibly of Sergei Rachmaninoff and/or Alexander Siloti), and composition with Raymond Hanson, continuing his studies in Poland with Zbigniew Drzewiecki, a student of Ignacy Jan Paderewski.
He performed at more than 120 international festivals; on one occasion he played the complete works for piano by Frédéric Chopin.(他曾经在一次音乐会中演奏完肖邦的所有曲目)He has been called "Australia's leading classical pianist" by the Alliance Francaise Sydney. Arthur Rubinstein and Yehudi Menuhin acclaimed his work, and Sviatoslav Richter invited him to appear at many European festivals.
In the Queen's Birthday Honours of 1980, he was appointed an Officer (OBE) of the Order of the British Empire. In the Queen's Birthday Honours of 1992, he was named a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC), "for service to music, particularly as a pianist and to the promotion of Australian composition".
He is an Australian Living Treasure.
Woodward is a Steinway Artist and managed by Patrick Togher Artists' Management. He has made close to 100 recordings.
