最后贴一篇我13年底写的雅思作文,这一篇没有参照SIMON的格式(那是还不知道simon的网站)。
Recent research has shown that within the European Union the largest difference between the earnings of men and women exists in the UK. Many equal rights campaigners believe that immediate action should be taken to close the gender pay gap.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this view?
Answer:
I strongly uphold the call of the equal rights campaigners to take immediate actions to close the gap of earnings between men and women in the UK.
While shouldering the same amount of job responsibility as men, women are still subject to unfair treatment in terms of their remuneration package compared with their male counterparts. It has been widely reported that, for the same piece of work with the same job descriptions, the salaries earned by the female employees are on an average level 10 to 20 per cent lower than the male employees with the same position. Even the CEOs who are female make significantly less than their male predecessors. It is an undeniable fact that such imbalance in salary payment does exist in the society nowadays and it is high time for us to take actions to tackle this problem.
Women are entitled to the same pay as men, not only because they are women, but also due to the roles played by them in the society. In addition to the regular work duties, women are required to devote much more energy and time to taking care of their families than men. In some sense, they work during day time in the office and work during night time at home. Usually when it is after work, husbands are able to take a rest and enjoy some leisure time, their partners are still busy with all the family chores such as cleaning, washing and babysitting. As women are taking up no less social responsibility and even more family responsibility than men, they should certainly have equal rights as men with regard to earnings.
Moreover, it would be very beneficial for building a more harmonious society once women and men are equally paid. In the work place, for example, there will be much less complaint and confrontation among colleagues because of the inequality in salary. Thus the turnover rates for companies will decrease and companies will be operated more efficiently. In the mean time, the social balance families will be maintained as now there is no such imbalance of pay between male and female family members as they contribute equally financially to their families.
In conclusion, it is crucial for the inequality in earnings between women and men to be eliminated, and it would be of tremendous amount of benefit to the society by doing it.
