Position: Technical Officer, Soil and COncrete Lab, Faculty of Engineering and IT.
Skills and Attributes:
1. good written and oral communication skills
2.demostrated ability to initiate, plan and schedule work within required time frames
3.demostrated ability to conduct experimental work in soil mechanics or closely related fields laboratories
4.ability to demostrate tests for student from diverse range of background
5.ability to work with academic and support staff as well as to work individually
Knowledge
1. familiarity with conventional and new equipment of soil mechanicals and concrete laboratories
2.familiarity with Australian Standards regarding Civil Engineering experimental tests
3.demonstrated knowledge of OH&S requirements in the workplace
Qualifications:
1.completion of a TAFE's degree as a qualified laboratory officer OR experience in a technical field, OR an equivalent combination of relevant experience and /or educatio/training.
2.A bechelor degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or related fields will be considered as an advantage.
Experience Requires:
1.Experience in Laboratories and field measurements
2.Experience calibration of transducers and installation of soil mechanics apparatus
4.Experience in construction work is desired
5.Demonstrated experience in laboratory=based research projects
6.Experience in sourcing and purchasing non-standard consumables
