It is time to resume our bushwalking/hiking in Blue Mountains National Park for this Sunday July 10, 2011.

Four of us walked on Lockleys Track (Lockleys Pylon – Blue Gum Forest) on a heavy rain day (Oct 24, 2010, see 185# and  游走天地间 Lockleys car park to Blue Gum Forest via Lockleys Pylon and Return for more stories.), and had amazingly experience. We could feel another experience on a fine day, this Sunday.

On Top of the World and Lockleys Track (Lockleys Pylon – Blue Gum Forest) (11 KM with 1000 M ascent and 1000 M descent, 5-6 hours)
The walk to Lockley Pylon commands 360 degree view over the world heritage park. It’s a “top of the world feeling” to look across rugged cliff faces and down to valleys below. From the road the foot track leads on a steady incline along a ridge through heath-land and scrub to the high point. There are views all the way to the pylon. After Pylon, walking on Du Faur (Head) track and drops steeply from Du Faur, with views of Perry’s Lookdown on the opposite side of the valley.The track has some fantastic views up and down the Grose Valley, and an excellent half way point, in the majestic Blue Gum Forest.

9:30 AM, Sunday July 10, 2011, at entrance of Lockley (Pylon) track, Mount Hay Road of Leura (10 KM away from Great Western Hwy)

It is compulsory to wear hiking/bushwalking shoes/boots.

这次应邀参加休闲组,设备太重就不走全程了,和大家在集合地见面,走到最佳摄影地点,休息摄影,FB 等大部队归来

有幾處是要手腳并用往上爬的。
不過你應該沒問題。

It is time to continue our Great North Walk from this Sunday July 17, 2011.

We have been walking several section of Great North Walk including Boronia Park of Hunters Hill to Lane Cove National Park HQ (May 8), Hornsby to Mt Kurning-gai via Gladstone Gorge (May 15) and Somersby-Mooney Mooney Creek (May 22) in 2011..

We are going to walk other part of Great North Walk, from Mt Kurning-gai to Cowan via Berowra Waters on July 17, 2010.

In the meantime one group of eight from a local hiking club will join us as well.

Mt Kuring-gai to Cowan (via Berowra Waters) (17.2 KM, 6-8 hours, 1150 meters ascent)
Ridge tops, grasslands, creek crossings and spectacular views are all part of this walk as it ventures from the ridge above Berowra Creek down to water level and back up again. Take the short and free ferry ride across the creek to get lunch at Berowra Waters. Conserve your energy for the steep sections between Berowra Waters and Cowan.
