| City of Sydney's Chinese New Year Festival Dragon Boat Races are the biggest meet in the southern hemisphere, thrilling crowds with a heart stopping competition.
Decorated to feature the head and tail of the mythical dragon, these 12 metre long boats are wide enough to seat 20 people, along with a sweep to steer and a drummer.
Be part of the excitement as the waters of Darling Harbour come to life with the thrashing of oars, the pounding of drums and the cheer of the crowds. It's an event you'll never forget!

Before a boat can enter the competition, it must undergo a ceremony to bring it to life, including “awakening” the boat by dabbing red paint on the eyes of each dragon boat’s “blind” figurehead.
Come along to the eye dotting ceremony and the blessing of the waters before the first races.
