Instead of camping on the Gold Coast you could try Kingscliff, on the Tweed Coast (Northern NSW) and just across the river from the Southern Gold Coast. Good campground, on the beach, 25 - 30 minutes driving max to Surfers Paradise (and easily reachable on Surfside buses). Lots of good restaurants, clubs, pubs nearby.

Otherwise, the campground at Tallebudgera on the Gold Coast is very central and a pleasant spot. Try a meal at the Burleigh Beach club.

There's also good free camping along the Pacific Highway at some of the roadside rest areas. Stotts Island, between Tweed Heads and Murwillumbah and Maria River Forest Park just south of Kempsey come to mind, but there are plenty of others.

Rather than camp in Byron Bay might I suggest Broken Head, about 8km south. Quiet, good beach. delightful walks in National Park setting. Just North of Woolgoolga is Coorindi Beach, where the campground is right on the beach (but so is the campground at Woolgoolga). Coorindi is quieter) Just north of that are some delightful National Park campsites in natural settings (ask if you're interested in these, I'll look them up, but Minnie Water and Station Creek stand out in my mind) . Do investigate the National Parks (NPWS) website because many of their campsites are superb and inexpensive, sometimes even free.
Thoroughly recommend South West Rocks, either the town campground (right on the beach) or nearby Trial Bay NPWS campground, where some campsites are waterfront.

Wicked campers look absolutely bloody awful to me. They're superannuated delivery vans without the facilities normally associated with camper vans or a pop top, but I see plenty of them on the road.

Consider also going a little inland. The loop Bellingen, Dorrigo, Armidale, Glen Innes, Grafton is worth investigating.

With four weeks for your trip you could quite easily and comfortably travel from Brisbane to Melbourne and pop across to the Great Ocean Road as well.

An afterthought. Do you really need a campervan? You'd hire a small car for a lot less, there would be considerable savings in fuel and you'd have something that is easier to drive and provides a more comfortable ride. Most campgrounds have cabins, often with ensuite, always with TV and cooking facilities. You may have to provide your own bedding, but when you consider that parking your camper will cost $20 - $25, the extra $25 or so for a cabin or a motel begins to make sense. Take my word for it, life in a camper can be a little claustrophobic.

December does not really become peak season until Christmas day, but it would still be a good idea to book cabins in advance. Maybe you could carry a small tent and a couple of cheap sleeping bags in case of emergency.

B: 先gold coast , - moreton island - Brisban

Moreton Island Traverse
Moreton Bay)

A long sand walk that starts at Bulwer in the North and finishes at reeders Point south of Kooringal. walking both on beach and inland trails.

Getting there

The only way onto the island is by Ferry.  The Micat Service from Whyte Island or The Tangoolooma Flyer from Pinkenba. Since doing this walk the Kooringal trader has closed.
Maps

The Moreton Island Tourist map was adequate for this walk.
Route/Trail notes

I was able to do this walk using public transport all the way. I walked 50m from my house to catch a bus to the local railway station  From Wynnum Railway station I took a taxi to Micat Ferries and caught the Ferry to Bulwer. This cost $35. Once I arrived at Bulwer I headed north to Comboyuro Point and Walked on North West Beach to Heath Island, crossing here was about a 100m wide wade in the lagoon. The crossing of Dog Creek was only ankle deep. The distance was about 9 km to North point. The walk continued along the beach past Yellow Patch around the hill of Honeymoon Bay to Cape Moreton Lighthouse and onto Cape Cliff following the rough path down to the Eastern Beach. This was about a 3km walk. The walk continued for 5 km down Eastern Beach to Blue Lagoon Campground which was pleasant for a nights camp and a cold shower after a swim in the surf and lake.

Next morning, I followed the lake shore around to Blue Lagoon Rd inland to the Telegraph Track turn off about 3 km. Following this track, that is an uphill slog with a few steep downhill sections.,for 8 Km to the Mt Tempest track, a bit over 2 km return.Well worth the effort for the spectacular views from the highest vegetated sand dune in the world. After the climb up and down the stairs I turned right onto Middle Road. and walked about 3km to the Tangalooma bypass Road to the beginning of the Rous Battery  Track. This track is about 10km long and crosses the island in a south-easterly direction. On reaching The Rous Battery, a fort built for the protection of Brisbane during WW2. I followed south along the beach for about 2 km to the turn off to the Big  Sandhills. This traverse of the island is only 1km wide but has interesting small iron sculptures in the sand. It is a steep and tiring ascent of this sandhill and steep descent on the western side. The second night camp was at the base of the Big Sandhill where there is a water pump. There is also a water pump at Rous Battery and Blue Lagoon.

The final day was a 2 km walk to the Small Sandhills and a traverse of the island at this point. A southerly walk of 6km or so, along the Beach to Reeders Point where the Kooringal trader use to ply it's trade. There were connections with straddie Buses, Straddie Flyer and the Cleveland Railway Station. Now adays a reverse of your walk along the western shore to The Wrecks seems to be only option unless you hire the taxi to move you.

Morton island is much more easy than driving in Fraser island.
If u want to camp in Wreck campground, u even don't  need o bring ur car.

check website, there will be some useful info for driving in the island

http://www.moretonislandadventur ... e-wrecks-campground
ampground features

The Wrecks campground is set next to a sheltered bay. Sites are well defined and surrounded by native trees and shrubs.
Location

Near the main barge landing point for Moreton Island Ferries and within easy walking distance to Tangalooma Resort. The campground is suitable for walkers, boaties and campers without vehicles.
Access

The campground can be reached by 4WD only and boats. It is not accessible for campers with trailers, caravans or buses. The toilet facilities are accessible by 4WD, but campers need to park on the beach and walk a short distance to each campsite.
Number of sites

A maximum of 21 sites are available, all marked with totems. Seasonal closures mean that not all sites will be full all year round.
Campsites are suitable for

walk-in camping only. Vehicles must be parked on the beach a short distance from the campground. School groups without vehicles are encouraged to use this campground.
Campsite surface

Sand.
Facilities

Drinking water (treat before drinking), hybrid toilets, cold showers and rubbish bins.
Open fires

Allowed (in existing fire sites only), except when fire bans or prohibitions apply. Fuel stoves, rather than open fires, are recommended.
Generators

Not permitted.
Essentials to bring

Drinking water and containers, water sterilisation tablets, rubbish bags, sunscreen, insect repellent, firewood (untreated mill off-cuts), axe, sealable containers for rubbish, first-aid kit and sand pegs. Read more about Things to know before you go.
Bookings

Book online, over-the-counter or by phone. Bookings can be made no more than 6 months in advance.
Mobile phone coverage

Poor and unreliable. Better reception may be possible near Tangalooma Resort on the island.

Driving on sand
http://www.nprsr.qld.gov.au/expe ... g_at_the_coast.html

    Driving guide
    Where can you drive?
    Where can't you drive?
    Helpful hints
    Safety guides (printable)
    Safety video clips
    Why protect dunes?

Queensland's magnificent beaches of unspoilt beauty and attractive climate are great places to fish, swim, camp, explore, view the scenery, or simply 'get away from it all'. For essential safety tips for driving on Fraser Island see Survive your drive on Fraser Island (PDF, 3.7M)*.

Sand driving can be difficult and dangerous. Take care and remember ALL road rules apply.
Driving guide

Contact local councils or QPWS offices to find out about restrictions and permits needed before you drive on beaches.

If beach driving is allowed, please follow these tips.
Where can you drive?

Drive on the harder sand between the waterline and the high tide mark for the firmest surface.

Remember that other people use the beach, so stay alert, follow the normal road rules and drive carefully! Use only designated access points to the beach and keep off the sand dunes.

Make sure you know any local rules about using vehicles on beaches. Do the right thing and other drivers will follow your good example.
Where can't you drive?

Keep off sand dunes except at designated crossing points for access to and from the beach. Don't 'bust dunes'; protect them.

Nor should vehicles be driven on sandy areas along the debris or drift lines as these are potential sites for the formation of new dunes. Plants growing on or near these lines trap windblown sand to form new dunes.
Rules for beach driving

Be considerate to others. Some people may object to vehicles on beaches, beacuse of noise disturbance to wildlife, and danger to other beach users.

By following these tips you will help protect our beaches and have a safe and enjoyable visit.

Observe all the laws and regulations relating to the use of vehicles on beaches.
Drive on the harder sand between the waterline and the high tide mark for the firmest surface.
Keep off sand dunes except at designated crossing points for access to and from the beach.
Vegetated sand dunes are easily damaged. Strictly avoid these areas.
Recognise the right of others to use the beach. Be alert and drive slowly and carefully.
Do not drive when you are tired.
    Do not drink and drive.
Respect the wildlife—animals are easily disturbed. Disturbance can affect their survival.
Carry your rubbish home. If others have left a mess, consider cleaning it up.
Ensure that your vehicle is mechanically sound before your visit.
Reduce your tyre pressure when driving on soft sand but keep within the manufacturer's specifications.
Ensure your vehicle is in 4WD when on sand.
Always carry a tyre gauge, air pump, towrope, first-aid kit, adequate water, food, fuel and spares on all trips.
Ensure you have a valid vehicle permit for those areas where a permit is required.
In remote beach areas travel with at least one other vehicle to reduce the risk in case of trouble. And let a responsible person know where you are going and when you expect to return.

Helpful hints

Travel at low tide, or within two hours either side.
You may choose to reduce tyre pressure to maintain traction, but if you do, do not forget to re-inflate your tyres to resume speed on harder sand or surfaces.
Always carry a pressure gauge and pump to re-inflate your tyres before travelling on normal roads, and keep within the manufacturers specifications.
Don't forget to consider the load your vehicle is carrying, pack light and stow gear low inside your vehicle. Top heavy vehicles topple more easily.
Reduced tyre pressure will affect your vehicle's performance. Remember to avoid sharp turns, sudden braking, high-speeds and driving over rough surfaces. Tyres have been known to come off their rims. Serious accidents have occurred.
Be prepared and carry a shovel, tow rope, snatch strap or traction aids in case you get bogged — and know how to use them.

Brisbane.

DELUX CABIN...

Day1:
Sea Ferry cruise Moreton Bay Marine Park and arrive on Moreton Island's sandy white beaches. Travel by 4WD to the desert sandhills for an exhilarating sandboarding adventure. Take a short forest walk to the fresh waters of Blue Lagoon where you can relax, swim snorkel or simply take some photos. Outdoor fresh picnic lunch with cold drinks overlooking the surf beach. Travel on to Cape Moreton Lighthouse for great whale watching (in season), dolphin, turtle and the occasional shark spotting. After a healty evening meal, enjoy stories around the campfire, stargaze at Blue Lagoon or take a walk along the surf beach.

Day2:
Start with a tropical breakfast overlooking the ocean & Moreton Bay. Outdoor morning tea and on to famous Tangalooma Shipwrecks. Snorkel among the tropical fishes and look for dugong, dolphins and turtles before a fresh picnic lunch. Explore Honeymoon Bay and the Champagne Pools, body surf or board ride at Yellowpatch Beach. Relax on Tangalooma beach overlooking marine park. Board the ferry to return to Brisbane at Tangalooma Shipwrecks.

Day 3:
With a packed picnic lunch, beach drive to Mount Tempest - the highest stable sand mountain in the world. Oh what a feeling! Take in the views and continue south along the beach to the biggest of Moreton's sandhill for sandboarding at speed. 4WD to the southern wetland eelgrass fields and protected rookeries where migratory waders can be seens. Aboriginal midden sites and ancient campfire areas are explained by your eco guide. A day to relax island style with a full day touring the southern wetlands. Try island tucker and fresh sea clams.
