PERTH ALERT
Weather Alert – Pending StormAt 1000 hours today, the Bureau of Meteorology issued a Severe Weather Warning in relation to a strong cold front expected to move through southwest parts of the state from Wednesday evening through to Thursday.
The Bureau’s warning is as follows:
Severe Weather Warning for widespread damaging winds with locally destructive gusts, abnormally high tides and flash flooding. for people in parts of WA southwest of a line from Jurien Bay to Bremer Bay, including Jurien Bay, Perth Metropolitan Area, Mandurah, Bunbury, Busselton,
Margaret River, Bridgetown, Katanning and Albany.
A strong cold front is expected to move through southwest parts of the state from Wednesday evening through to Thursday. Heavy showers and squally thunderstorms are possible in coastal parts between Jurien Bay and Cape Leeuwin during Wednesday evening. Dangerous gusts in excess of 125 kilometres per hour may cause significant damage or destruction to homes and property in localised areas.
From early Thursday morning widespread damaging winds to 100 kilometres per hour could result in damage to homes and property southwest of a line from Perth to Bremer Bay with dangerous gusts again possible in localised areas.
Heavy showers and thunderstorms may cause flash flooding at times.
Higher than normal tides between Jurien Bay and Cape Leeuwin may cause flooding of low-lying coastal areas, particularly in the Geographe Bay area.
