It is time to resume our bushwalking/hiking in Blue Mountains National Park after 2 months. This Sunday Oct 24, 2010, we are going to Leura, the one of the two most beautiful towns (another is Blackheath, based on my own experience) of Blue Mountains National Park.

We will walk “On Top of the World” in the morning and “Look out Leura” in the afternoon.

On Top of the World (8KM, 2-3 Hours)
The walk to Lockley Pylon commands 360 degree view over the world heritage park. It’s a “top of the world feeling” to look across rugged cliff faces and down to valleys below. From the road the foot track leads on a steady incline along a ridge through heath-land and scrub to the high point. There are views all the way to the pylon.

Look Out Leura (8KM, 3-4 Hours)
This walk takes in numerous stunning viewpoints over valleys, creeks and waterfalls. While there are a few climbs we do not descend to the floor of the Jamison Valley. This trial is mainly on the cliff top near Leura.

The meeting time and place

9:30 AM, Sunday 24th of October, at entrance of Lockley (Pylon) track, Mount Hay Road of Leura (10 KM away from Great Western Hwy)
GPS S33º39´4.07", E 150º22´17.94"

12:30 PM, at the crossing of Laura Mall and Craigend Street of Leura.

It is compulsory to wear hiking/bushwalking shoes/boots.

before heading 27.7 KM of Seven Bridges and Seven Villages Sydney on Oct 31, 2010.

Due to heavy rain, we short cut proposed

"Lockley Pylon (Leura) to Pylon Perry's Lookdown (Blackheath)" and "Pylon Perry's Lookdown (Blackheath) to Lockley Pylon (Leura)"  

2x8.1KM with 1600 meters ascent and 1600 meters descent

to "Lockley Pylon (Leura) to Blue Gum Forest  and "Blue Gum Forest  to Lockley Pylon (Leura)"  

2x6KM with 1000 meters ascent and 1000 meters descent .

for joining great walk today despite of heavy rain.

Four of walked 12 KM with 1000 meters ascent and 1000 meters descent for 6.5 hours.

We had coffee at one of best coffee restaurant after walk.

Everyone enjoyed very much.

This Sunday, 31 of Oct, 2010 we  are going to walk "Seven Bridges and Seven Villages Walk",

You can register http://www.everydayhero.com.au/registrations/list/41  for the event from now by following the links on this site. This is a great day out for the whole family and it is FREE in last four year, but costs $10 each this year.

The event is a great way to see Sydney, benefit your health,join in a great community activity and raise money for charities. You can donate online or at any of the event villages or bridges along theway.

The whole course is about 27.7 KM loop circle. You can start at any of the seven event villages as you like.

Kylie and kid walked six bridges. All of others walked at least 27 KM for whole course for 6-8 hours and 13 of us walked over 30.2 KM (beyond 27 KM) to BBQ City.
