Cabbie beaten up outside Strathfield railway station, man charged

A CABBIE has been hospitalised and a man has been arrested and charged with his alleged assault following an altercation at Strathfield.
About 6.30am today, police attached to Flemington local Area Command attended Raw Square, near Strathfield Railway Station, following reports a taxi driver was injured.
Police and ambulance officers located the 37-year-old man with injuries to his neck and face. He was taken by ambulance to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where he underwent surgery and remains in a serious but stable condition.
A crime scene was established and forensic officers were in attendance.
Following investigations, police attended another area of Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and spoke to a taxi driver who had presented himself to hospital with minor injuries. He was arrested and taken to Auburn Police Station. .
The 53-year-old Greenacre man was charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, He was granted strict conditional bail and is expected to appear at Burwood Local Court on 11 August 2011.
