此车RGO到04年8月就结束了，如果现在我买并去注册的话，<br>
是不是要缴一大笔钱呢？类似罚金什么的？<br>

钱可能不是大问题。主要是要跑各种手续和机构。如果你有很多闲工夫，没准自己注册会是一种乐趣。。。<br>

You will need a recipt from the seller with the sellers name and address and the VIN or chassis and engine numbers on it for VicRoads, it must be signed by the seller. It would also be a good idea to check those numbers with the police to make sure it's not stolen. In nsw it has a service called REVS that you can ring to check cars for money owing on them and if there stolen or recent ex write off. look at revs.nsw.gov.au. <br>

If you can try to talk the seller into getting the car RWC inspected before you buy it so you will know what it will need for repair and if it is worth buying. <br>

You can ring VicRoads before u buy... they have an over the phone service for checking VIN numbers to see if stolen or still under lease etc.<br>

Yeah then u need the receipt with full info on it.<br>

then u prob also need temporary vehicle permit from VicRoads... so u can drive it to RWC place etc to get fixed and VicRoads to get rego'd... that costs something like $50 for 7days (or $80 for 25 days) roughly...unless u gonna be towing it or leaving it where it is.<br>

Then you need to get RWC (cost between $50 and $100 or so... plus cost of fixes to make roadworthy (ie...tyres, windscreen...etc etc etc)...which could be lots.<br>

Then u need to ring VicRoads again to make appointment for Rego Inspection (that costs a bit... maybe $125 or so)...<br>

Then at the VicRoads inspection they check VIN numbers etc, and inspect for roadworthiness... and charge u for number plates (somwhere between $130 and $300) and 1st years Rego (say $500), including TAC/3rd party... and the big one... STAMP DUTY ... this is about 10% (or 7%...i forget) of puchase price/market value i think... (so for an expensive car it can be a lot)...... then u give them all your money... and they give u the number plates... <br>

and thats it... ur on the road.<br>。”

yes，球球，I've already called VicRoads,and answer is, here is no penalty charge on previous unregistered period, however, I have to register for the car in the process as a new car like that 南方森林 said.

04年8月牌费就过期了,到现在快两年了,没有牌费的车是不让上路的,这两年里这部车是不是一直没开啊,如果一直没开的话,不建议你去买.

没有牌照的车，买主需要买车牌，作RWC（此处花钱可能会很多,易被宰），还要交OWNERSHIP TRANSFER FEE 29.6+4%*CAR DURABLE VALUE. You can look up relevant info at website. In Victoria, www.vicroads.vic.gov.au.
