This is a well written book, but my heart did suffer while listening to it. Now roughly one month after finishing this book, the scene most clearly imprinted in my mind is when Tara violently attacked by her brother Shawn. It is a miracle that Tara survived and escaped from the unsafe and controlling family, not to mention what she has achieved. I couldn't imaging starting from no formal education at all to entering into college and then admitted into Cambridge and thriving, even after finishing this book. As all she has mentioned about was how she slept very little and then there she is. It is not an easy journey at all, and education might be the ultimate tool that helped her to stand up strongly and walk away from her toxic family in the end.
