Queensland Police Services (QPS) is looking for people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgournds for police recruitment . I believe this is the time that we need to encourage young people who are looking policing as a creer to applly. The minimum education requirment appears to be year 12. For more details see the following “pre-entry requirement” that I have copied from page 6 of the attached “RECRUIT ENTRY INFORMATION ” for your quick reference:
“Pre-entry Requirements (page 5)
Age
You must be 18 years of age or over.
Integrity
You must have a very high standard of past behaviour and conduct which includes traffic and/or criminal history.
Education/Employment Experience
You must have successfully completed Year 12 (or equivalent Senior Year), or have three years of full time paid employment (or part time equivalent) since leaving high school.
Driver Licence
You must hold either:
· an Open driver licence (manual or automatic), OR
· a Provisional driver licence (manual or automatic) with 12 months of driving experience AND have completed a driving course recognised by the Queensland Police Service (QPS).
Citizenship
You must either be an Australian citizen or hold permanent residency status, or be a New Zealand citizen holding a special category visa under the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).
Fitness
You must be ready to demonstrate a reasonable degree of aerobic fitness to perform duties as an
operational police officer involving periods of intense and strenuous physical exertion.
Health
You must be physically and mentally fit to undertake the duties of a Constable. You are required to undertake a medical examination by an approved Pre-Employment Medical Service (PEMS) provider.
Police Entrance Examination
In order to cope with the academic aspects of recruit training and the demands of police duties you must successfully complete the Police Entrance Examination which assesses verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning skills.
Please note: It is up to the individual as to the order they complete the Medical and the Police Entrance Examinations. Generally most people will undertake the Police Entrance
Examinations first. However, if you have any concerns regarding your health you are more than welcome to undertake your Medical first.
Your First Step
If you believe you meet the pre-application requirements your first step in the process is to either:
· Contact the Police Recruiting Centre either by phone or in person (1 300 BE A COP)
· You could also book in for a recruiting seminar (via the website).
Lodging a Recruit Entry Application
Police Recruit Entry applications are now lodged online. Upon successful completion of your Police Entrance Exams, QPS Recruiting will provide you with a link to be able to lodge your application online once you have successfully completed your medical.”

One of the attachments is a mere sample of the Psychometric test. More Psychometric tests are available online. These can be accessed through Google by simply using key words such as Cognitive Ability Test, Intelligence test or Psychometric test.
