In some countries young people are encouraged to work or travel for a year between finishing high school and starting university studies.
Discuss the advantages and disadvantages for young people who decide to do this.

Since the youth is regarded to be the most significent phase in a man's life, parents in some countries would support their children to leave for a while to work or travel after their graduating from high school, for they believe it will benefit their children's future life. The following essay will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of it.
The first benefit of it is that it faciliates to broaden the young's horizons. Whether it be working or traveling, one thing is certain, that they will meet all sorts of people. Through communicating with these people, they will have a better understanding of the world. The experiments will in turn help their study in university.
The second advantage is helping to independence-building and confidence building. Unlike the time at home when every thing are prepared ready by their parents, while working or on a trip at an alien environment, they can depend on no one but themselves. They have to arrange everything from booking a flight to washing clothes. There is no doubt that after a year's experiments, they would build up a certain independence and confidence.
Despite of all the benefits, there are still some issues required children's attention. For example, what to do if some valuable documents are lost during their trip; how to do if the payment is not received after work has finished. However, all these disadvantageous issues can easily be addressed by careful preparation and the help from parents.
Overall, the benefits of the practice far surpass the disadvantages. The practice is worthy of being advocated among students after high school.
