About Tumut area

Downhill & Cross-Country Skiing -
Mount Selwyn Snowfields, an hour’s drive from the property, provides down hill or cross country skiing, tobogganing and snowboarding or just great fun building a snowman or two.
Bushwalking -
Retrace the steps of the early explorers along the famous Hume & Hovell walking track or try a more challenging walk through the high country in Kosciuszko National Park. There is a network of walking tracks that bring mountain streams, high peaks and fabulous views within easy reach.
Horse Riding -
at Argalong Trail Rides from 1hr,2hr to 4hr rides plus half day and full day rides. Trail rides are the perfect way to enjoy the natural scenery of the snowy mountain foothills, an experience of a lifetime which all the family can enjoy.
Fishing –
the Goobarragandra River offers some of the most beautiful spots to enjoy a day trout fishing. So try your luck and test your skills from the river bank. Or take a short trip to Lakes Blowering and Talbingo and catch a perch or cod or redfin.

Selwyn Snowfields is located an easy 2.5 hour drive from Canberra, 5.5 hour drive from Sydney and 6.5 hour drive from Melbourne. As there is no accommodation on the mountain, most people stay in the nearby townships of Adaminaby or Talbingo a short 30 to 40 minutes drive from the slopes.
It is a requirement that all vehicles except 4WDs carry properly fitting chains at all times on the Snowy Mountains Highway. These can be hired most service stations on your way to Selwyn Snowfields. You will be required to pay an entry fee for the National Park which is $27 per vehicle per day.
