Are you in a Job Search Rut?

I read an article from internet. I hope It is useful for job seekers, especially for those who have been looking for job for long time.

Are you in a Job Search Rut?
MACRO Recruitment's Managing Director offers advice for those stuck in the all too common ‘Job Search Rut'.
Still looking for work after making 50 or more failed applications? Losing self esteem after receiving all those knock backs? Are job applications becoming more and more tedious? Do you hate it when people ask you, ‘how's the job search going'? Got that feeling that your job search efforts are just going nowhere?

If you've answered "Yes" to most of these, you are possibly in a job search rut and may even be feeling like you're sinking deeper and deeper. But don't despair! Looking for a new job is a fulltime job in itself! Try and be consistent in this endeavor. It's hardly any use if you start enthusiastically and then your enthusiasm withers out. Here is some valuable advice you should take on board to block out the negative and feel like you're back on track:

Remember why you're job hunting
It's easy to forget why you felt it was important to look for a job in the first place. You get deep into your ‘job search grind' and can't seem to find the enthusiasm you once had when you started job hunting. Get that ‘I want a better job' attitude back! Remember where you're at and what your motivations are for changing jobs. You can get that adrenaline back by picturing yourself in the job you really want.Think about how this would make you feel. Hold onto that feeling and switch into a new gear.

Prepare for "No"
Know that job rejection is not a rejection of you. Being rejected means you just weren't right for that role. Don't ever lose hope of finding that perfect job for you.

Picture your life in a new job
Being in a career you enjoy can enrich your life and fulfil you more than you can imagine. It brings a healthier mind, reduces stress levels and makes relationships smoother. Maintain a positive mindset by thinking of the rewards you'll enjoy when your job search is over. A good attitude will draw good things your way so keep your eye on the prize and you'll reach your goals more quickly and easily.

Take charge
Conduct a systematic, planned job search. Set weekly job search goals and when these targets are met, reward yourself! Get organised by recording all your contacts in a database or diary. Keep track of all your applications and record their status. This is particularly helpful when companies and recruiters ring up. By having this information on hand you'll be able to switch to the right gear and you won't be um-ing and ah-ing through their line of questioning.

Let people help you
A lot of job seekers are hesitant to reach out to their network and, beyond that, to strangers they're referred to. For some reason, it's much easier to give help than to ask for it! You'll probably be pleasantly surprised by how helpful and generous people are - whether your own friends and colleagues or people you don't even know.

Seek out friends/family/mentors
Pick ones who listen well, who can give perspective and who above all, encourage you do your best. Avoid pessimistic or cynical people. Immerse yourself in friends, family and mentors who inspire you to excel.

Don't lose hope!
Use guys like us to help you find the right role! Recruitment agencies are set up to aid you in your job search. They're not an enemy! Keep searching and don't ever lose hope. Keep your goals in mind and don't settle for something that won't completely satisfy you. You'll get there!

Stay on the case
Be persistent - don't think just because you've applied for the job that they (recruiters and HR departments) are going to call you back. Stay on their case! Make sure they've got your CV and application and ask if they've read it! In your conversations ask them: Is there anything else you can give them in the decision making process? Let them know your availability for an appointment time too.

Good luck in your job search!
