Yes, you can apply to renew your passport at the embassy or consulate general. You'd better do it before the passport expires, or you'll have to pay extra for the renewal.

带上照片 签证复印件 原护照去中国领事馆申请换发，大概2周
没记错的话是AUD80，拿护照的时候交钱
