It may be the right time to visit Kanangra-Boy National Park, beyond Jenolan Caves, for this Sunday May 29 2011
Highlights: This park is part of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. Vast gorges, high lookouts and wild and scenic rivers lend Kanagra-Boyd's wilderness a rugged and dramatic grandeur. Thurat Spires, Kanangra Walls and Mount Cloudmaker provide sandstone scenery on a majestic scale.
Activities: For experienced bushwalkers there are plenty of opportunities for extended walks and backpack camping. Wildlife abounds at Boyd Crossing, where car-based camping is available (fees apply). A pleasant 10-minute walk from Kanangra Walls carpark takes you to a lookout over the park. The carpark toilets, lookout and Boyd River camping area are all wheelchair-accessible.
The Greater Blue Mountains Drive is an exciting touring journey that links a vast and spectacular world heritage landscape and a number of national parks to the regions that surround it.
Access: 180 kilometres west of Sydney near Jenolan Caves on Kanangra Road (unpaved 4WD is perfect).
