Bushwalking at Wentworth Falls & Katoomba on Jan 30, 2011, Sunday
It is time to resume bushwalking/hiking in the mountains near Sydney after partly Alps walks at Alpine National Park of Victoria in January 8/9 and Kosciuszko National Park in January 22/23, 2011, and country walk in Tidbinbill Nature Reserve of ACT in Jan 16, 2011, Blue Mountains National Park may be closest one to start for this Sunday Jan 30, 2011.
To see best view of Blue Mountains in Katoomba, we will take top 5th of 10 walked in 2009, i.e. 1/5 track of "Wentworth Hippocrene and Vera Falls" (about 1-2 hours) plus combination of another short loop track (2-3 hours) at Echo Point, via Furbes Steps, Katoomba Falls, Federal Pass, Base of Scenic World, Giant Stairway and 1/3 of “Meeting Three Sisters" (1-1.5 hours).
The whole courses are 10-12 KM for 4-6 hours including morning tea, lunch break and afternoon coffee.
Meeting the Three Sisters: Just about everyone who visits the Blue Mountains calls on the Three Sisters at the Echo Point Look Out. However not many people will get to know these elderly ladies as well as hikers on this walk. We get to one of the sisters skirt-hem and further on admire the sisters from a different perspective than the many visitors at Echo Point. This hike takes us down the steep Giant Stainway to a circuit walk below the Sisters and to the less visited Leura Forest before returning via the Scenic Railway to a visitors centre. Stunning view highlight the walk around the rim of the valley back to the starting point.
The meeting time and place
9:30 AM, Sunday 30th of January, 2010, Car Park along Sir H Burrell Dr of Wentworth Falls
