2) Web server and Oracle server administration
Installed, configured and administered Linux operating system, Apache web server with Tomcat.
Installed Oracle server, client and setup Oracle database for web sites. Managed Oracle database for company’s Document Management System (DMS) as well.
3) Project Implementation and Management
I have managed several major outsourced projects independently in the 7 years service with McGraw-Hill. They have all achieved great success and been used to improved company’s operation efficiency.
- Document Archiving Project
Supported by xxx company from Melbourne, Australia remotely. It automatically takes spool files from AS400, raster prints spools into pre-defined electronic forms Like “Invoice Order” and creates lookup indexes and PDF files for archiving into DMS. This project was successfully implemented on our 3 region countries and is running smoothly in daily operation.
My duties include: provide functional specifications through analysis business request; verify and confirm interface and functionality provided by developers; monitor project progress; testing & feedback; implement applications on our testing environment and finally on our production servers in 3 regional countries. Lots of communication was involved remotely with the developers and with our users as well.
- “e-Workflow” Project
Implemented “e-Workflow” on Document Management System. It automatically routes a task from one person to another as pre-defined. E.g for P.O approving, when an originator raise a PO, it will auto route to his next manager for approving. Management are able to approve the document even he is on travel as long as he has the access to company’s network.
I interviewed each department and understood their requirements and working flows. Designed and implemented e-workflows on our current Document Management System. Then training users in the whole company to work on it.
- Book Catalog offline query from CD
It provides a very convenience offline book catalog search & query facilities from a CD-Rom. Selected titles are able to add to a bag and generate POs accordingly. The CDs are widely distributed to our librarians or book retailers to promote company’s titles. The project has achieved a great success and was launched in McGraw-Hill Asia’s Annual Sales Conference in 2002.
I was solely responsible for the whole project: requirement analysis, vendor assessment & selection, progress monitor, testing and feedback to project launched.
