Lake St Clair
Lake St Clair is nestled among the undulating hills at the foot of the Mount Royal Range. The lake is designed to offer a premium outdoor leisure facility. Everyone will be entertained with swimming, power boating, sailing and water skiing, all popular pursuits on the lake.
Fishing in the lake is another common pastime and with the continual restocking of the lake and the amenities provided at the recreational area, Lake St Clair will remain a mecca for fishing enthusiasts.
NSW State Fisheries and local fishing clubs make regular releases into the lake of Australian Bass and Golden and Silver Perch fingerlings.
Facts and Figures!!
Lake St Clair was created by Glennies Creek Dam. It has a storage capacity of 283 000 million litres, about half the volume of Sydney Harbour. The dam wall is 67 metres high, which is as tall as the highest sail on the Sydney Opera House.
The lake when full has a surface area of 1540 hectares or more than two thousand football fields. Glennies Creek Dam supplies water for domestic use in Singleton, for irrigation, stock purposes and for coal mining. Vineyards and pastures are the main enterprises watered by the dam.
